 The Founder’s Story: Why I Started ibGuru
I was fortunate to study the IB curriculum, despite being part of the first cohort in my school with only 20 students. While I enjoyed the broad and critical-thinking approach of IB, I realized that many students struggled without access to tutors or extra support.
I chose to self-study rather than seek private tutoring, knowing the financial burden it placed on my family. Later, when I became a tutor myself, I saw how expensive private education was—and how many students were left out simply because they couldn’t afford it.
This inspired me to launch GuruMe, a tutoring platform to connect students and tutors transparently. Over time, this evolved into:
TutorHive – a tutoring app connecting students with international tutors. IBtheTOP – a specialized IB academy. Publishing IB & UK University Books – to provide free guidance through blogging and printed resources. And finally, ibGuru – a tech-driven, data-powered learning app that helps every IB student study smarter, regardless of background.My ultimate goal? To collaborate with the IBO and create a scholarship foundation that makes IB education accessible to more students worldwide.
