Brainstorm story/essay outline and introduction Create a story that demonstrates passion for the subject with interlinkage of the following 1. degree subject reading 2. work experience/ activities 3. competition participation *essential to start the 1st draft when all of the above applicable preparations are complete to avoid having to rewrite after completing and realising a different outcome. Mentoring duration is purely based on essay writing and may take longer if preparations are not complete. *If one or more of the preparations is still in progress and is to finish too late, it is possible to have the 1st session just for story outlining/brainstorming.
Write the 1st draft *Students find it the hardest to have their brainstormed contents turned into the 1st draft writing. But this has to written by the student for the obvious reason. If difficult to write the whole 1st draft, may partly write in paragraphs which are then linked in next class with mentor *1st draft deliberately reaches only 60~70% of word limit
Feedback/improve 1st draft Depending on mentor’s feedback on 1st draft quality, progression into 2nd draft may be smooth with little changes or there may have to be big changes in the 2nd draft (redo essay outline if needed)
