Converts IB and AP textbooks into structured study notes and exam-style questions using a multi-phase AI pipeline. The process starts with ingesting a textbook PDF — parsing its structure, chapters, and topics into a searchable knowledge base. From there, a second phase generates two types of content: pattern-based practice questions and exam-style questions that mirror the style of real IB/AP papers, including diagrams and visual elements where needed. A team of TAs (Sejong and Sunmin) reviews the output through a feedback website before content is accepted, with a 4-gate quality check that evaluates trustworthiness, coverage, difficulty calibration, and reviewer consensus.
This service is the backbone of ibGuru's content library and will eventually supply academy curriculum material through TIMS. Chris is the founding partner and co-owner of this service under the edu-brand portfolio.
AI Marker
Status: Beta · IBtheTOP only
Grades IB and AP exam papers against official markschemes. A tutor or student uploads a completed exam paper; the AI reads it alongside the relevant markscheme and returns a structured assessment — marks per question, examiner-style commentary, and specific improvement notes. The grading is markscheme-aware, meaning it understands not just whether an answer is right or wrong, but whether it hits the specific points an examiner would credit.
Currently used by IBtheTOP tutors and ibGuru tutors. Grading data from this service feeds downstream into the AI Report Writer, so parent progress reports can be grounded in objective marking results.
AI Desk Manager
Status: MVP · IBtheTOP only
Handles the daily flood of KakaoTalk messages from parents at the academy. When a parent sends an enquiry — about scheduling, pricing, a teacher, a complaint — the AI drafts a reply in the academy's voice. Staff review the draft in Slack, make any edits, and approve it. The approved message is then sent automatically via KakaoTalk.
This eliminates the time spent crafting individual replies to repetitive enquiries while keeping a human in the loop for every message that goes out. Currently processing around 200 messages per day at IBtheTOP. As other academies join edu-brand as subscribers, this service scales to each of them independently.
AI Report Writer
Status: Planned (v3)
Generates personalised parent progress reports from class transcripts and marking data — written in the teacher's own voice, not from a generic template. A teacher's previous reports are used to calibrate the writing style; the AI then drafts a new report using the transcript from that class (via Classroom) and the student's latest marking scores (via AI Marker). The teacher reviews and sends.
This replaces one of the most time-consuming recurring tasks for teachers at any academy. Rather than spending an hour per student writing reports from scratch, the teacher spends a few minutes reviewing and personalising an AI-drafted version that already sounds like them.
Classroom
Status: Planned
The scheduling and delivery hub for the academy's teaching operations. Teachers set their class schedule; students receive calendar invites automatically. Classes launch from the academy dashboard with a single click — no switching to a separate Zoom account or sending manual links. Recordings are captured automatically and routed to the AI Class Quality Monitor and AI Report Writer for downstream processing. Attendance is logged and passed to Billing.
This is the connective tissue of the academy's day — most other services depend on data that flows from Classroom.
Billing / Tuitions
Status: Planned
Manages academy-internal invoicing and tuition fee tracking. Attendance data from Classroom flows in automatically, so invoices are generated based on actual classes attended rather than manually entered records. Staff see a payment status dashboard per student, and late payment reminders can be dispatched through the AI Desk Manager via KakaoTalk.
Removes the manual accounting work that typically sits in spreadsheets at most academies.
AI Class Quality Monitor
Status: Planned (v4+)
Audits class recordings against a defined set of teaching quality and compliance policies. On the visual side: camera angle, whiteboard visibility, student engagement indicators, classroom setup. On the audio side: speaking pace, clarity, wait time after questions, and the ratio of teacher talk to student participation. Each class gets a compliance report and coaching notes sent privately to the teacher.
The quality observations from this service feed into the AI Report Writer, so parent reports can reference specific moments from the class rather than speaking only in generalities. No compliance data is shared with parents directly — it stays within the academy's staff view.
AI Content Studio
Status: Planned (v4+)
Transforms class recordings into branded, reusable content that the academy owns outright. A recorded lesson becomes: lecture highlight clips, a structured set of study notes, a topic summary, and slide decks — all formatted in the academy's visual identity. Unlike content hosted on a third-party platform, everything produced here belongs to the academy and can be published, sold, archived, or used however they choose.
This is the long-term content moat for academies — the ability to build a proprietary library of teaching IP that compounds over time.
